We call our son RJ the “master of unintended uses”. Nothing in our home is trash. In his mind there is a use for everything – yes everything! We have to clean his room out once a month to get rid of what should be trash. We have to fix multiple broken items in the home because he used it in a “creative way” or re-built it to “work better”.
Well, I myself was guilty this week of finding an unintended use for my Animal Scents Ointment. Here’s a description of this versatile product:
“Animal Scents™ Ointment is blended with Melaleuca alternifolia and myrrh, two of nature’s most powerful essential oils. It is a protective and soothing salve formulated for external use on animals. Typically used for minor skin irritations, cuts, and abrasions, the rich blend of ingredients is effective yet gentle and safe, so you can soothe your pets without using harmful chemicals or synthetic products. “
As I was putting this on my dog one day to sooth an irritation she had I thought to my self, “hey, I use the essential oils Myrrh and Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree Oil) on myself almost daily and this product has no harmful chemicals or synthetic products in it, why not use it on us human animals?”
Well just think of how many ways this could be used on an over active 10 year old boy! We use it almost daily on him. Best of all, I can have him grab and apply it himself because it is NON-TOXIC and he cannot put too much on! Well actually he can and does, but it will NOT hurt him, he is only 10 after all!
My husband runs marathons, in fact we are off soon for him to run his 10th, the Santa Barbara Marathon. I get to scratch an itch and hunt for sea birds to photograph while there. (But I digress from the topic.) Marathon runners run, and run and run. What comes with that is sometimes some uncomfortable rubbing and abrasions. Jim has found that this amazing ointment works just as well if not better than some of the products made for runners to deal with this issue!
So I am proud to join my son in being a master of unintended uses. Well at least in the case of Animal Scents Ointment, I at least threw out the box it came in (while RJ was not watching because there is of course a use for EVERY box).
