How to Use Essential Oils

Young Living Catalog Shoot 3/2009Essential Oils are incredibly efficient. When applied topically anywhere on the skin it will be circulating throughout your body searching for where you need balance and how it can best help you achieve that within 20 minutes!. When 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade oils are applied to the skin, they are immediately absorbed into the bloodstream where they begin to balance the body and promote healthy cell function. Essential Oil molecules are so small they can penetrate the wall of individual cells! Essential oils can be applied to the neck, head, along the spine, on the bottom of the feet, and on the ears.

But, NEVER apply essential oils directly in the ears or eyes. Oils can also be applied over areas of concern. Some oils can be applied neat (without dilution), while others should be applied with a carrier oil if sensitive to the skin such as peppermint. Carrier oils can also be used to make your essential oil spread farther. Good examples of carrier oils are cocoanut and olive oils.

100% Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils can be taken internally to nourish deep organ cells, and positively affect areas such as the throat, kidneys, liver, digestive and urogenital tracts. ONLY high quality oils are safe for internal consumption, as lower quality oils can be harmful. The most effective way to absorb oils is to drop them under your tongue. Other methods include adding to an empty capsule (available at health food stores), or simply adding essential oils to water.5738433722_b17926e7b8_z

Essential Oil DiffuserWhen essential oils are diffused in the air or breathed from the bottle or off of your wrists or any other way to smell them, they stimulate and positively affect the limbic system. The limbic system is part of the brain that controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones. It also affects heart rate, stress levels, breathing and immune function. Citrus oils are especially helpful in lifting spirits and releasing emotional trauma. In addition to effecting emotions, aromatic use also improves the air quality by removing harmful bacteria, mold spores, odors, and toxins. Synthetic air fresheners are known to be toxic, but essential oils provide a pleasant scent, while enhancing health and well-being. Diffusing essential oils such as peppermint and eucalyptus can also help open airways, supporting the respiratory system.
